Tournament
Format:
The tournament format will be a
handicapped scramble. The handicaps will
be generated using a super-secret formula that I’ve devised after some serious
handicapping research. For those that
don’t know this is how a scramble works - each person takes a tee shot. The team then collectively chooses which shot
to use, and takes the second shot from there, and so on until the ball is
holed. There will be no mandatory use of
every players tee shot – take the best shot on each hole regardless of the
player. We will be playing from the BLUE
tees. The handicap for each team will be
applied to the team’s final score.
Here is some background
information I used for coming up with the handicaps.
Drinking on the course is not required,
but strongly encouraged. Maybe we’ll
have a prize for the team who has the lowest (score minus beers consumed).
Timbers weekend rates are $45 to walk,
$60 to ride. I’m tacking on a $20
tourney fee so I can distribute prizes to the winners. That means we’ll have $720 in prizes to give
away this year. You’ll pay me the
tourney fee in advance, and the greens fees when you arrive at the course. After the golf, everyone is invited to a
cookout at my house, which is about 10 minutes from the course. Feel free to bring your wife/girlfriend,
friends, and family. Driving
